Doncaster School, Hill House, is celebrating after being named a finalist in the Independent School of the Year Awards.
The leading independent school, in Auckley, was previously commended earlier this summer in the category of Contribution to Social Mobility and has now moved on to the final stage, with the winner to be announced at an awards ceremony in October.
The national recognition reflects the school’s long-standing focus on widening access to what it describes as outstanding educational opportunities.
Hill House says its ethos is built around the belief that talent and ambition should not be limited by circumstance. It aims to give pupils access to academic, sporting, musical and creative experiences, while working with families to address financial barriers that could stop young people from reaching their potential.
Headmaster Mr David Holland said: "We are absolutely thrilled to have been selected as a finalist in the Independent School of the Year Awards for Contribution to Social Mobility.
It is an honour to be recognised alongside some of the country’s other prestigious and long-established schools in a category that reflects the spirit of service and commitment to social responsibility at the heart of independent education. We take great pride in being the only northern Independent Schools in this category."
