Puppy power boosts wellbeing at Amazon Doncaster fulfilment centre

Employees at Amazon's Doncaster fulfilment centre recently experienced a unique approach to workplace wellbeing with the introduction of therapy puppies. These special visitors offered staff a chance to unwind and connect in a relaxed environment.
The initiative saw a group of Amazon employees engaging with the four-legged companions during dedicated sessions, stepping away from their daily tasks to enjoy time with both the puppies and their colleagues. These sessions were designed to provide a refreshing break, encouraging social interaction and stress reduction.
Mirela, an Amazon employee in Doncaster who participated in the sessions, commented on the positive impact. “The sessions were a really enjoyable experience. Spending time with the puppies and colleagues was a great way to take part in something a bit different together,” she said.
Vivek Khanka, General Manager at Amazon in Doncaster, highlighted the company's ongoing commitment to staff welfare. “We’re always looking for ways to support the wellbeing of our employees and create opportunities for colleagues to connect with one another. Welcoming the puppies to the site was a lovely way to do that and it was great to see so many people enjoying their time with our special visitors,” Khanka added.
This wellbeing programme is part of Amazon's broader efforts to support its communities, which also include initiatives such as the Multibank programme, co-founded with Gordon Brown, which has distributed over 12 million surplus goods to more than 800,000 families. Additionally, Amazon supports STEM education through Amazon Future Engineer and aids community organisations with logistics via Amazon Local Good, alongside its partnership with Comic Relief, raising over £4.8 million.
