True crime enthusiasts urged to become detectives at interactive Doncaster theatre event

Doncaster Little Theatre will host a unique live experience on Thursday, where audiences can step beyond passive viewing of true crime and actively engage in investigating serial killer cases. Hosted by serial killer expert Cheish Merryweather, the event combines crime scene reconstructions, forensic evidence analysis, criminal profiling and simulated autopsies to immerse attendees in the investigative process. This event also serves as an introduction to Merryweather’s upcoming initiative, Serial Killer Unit UK (SKUUK), set to launch in December. SKUUK aims to be the nation’s first independent team using open-source intelligence (OSINT) methods to probe suspected serial murder cases and compile a comprehensive database of known and suspected offenders across the UK. “In December, we are launching Serial Killer Unit UK - the UK’s first dedicated independent team aiming to help investigate potential real-life serial killer cases using OSINT techniques,” Merryweather explains. She adds that the event will highlight cases under SKUUK’s scrutiny, such as the Manchester Canal deaths linked to the so-called ‘Manchester Pusher’ and the ‘Silver Killer’. SKUUK’s initial major project will be to map the extent of serial murder in Britain by developing an online database. This will document confirmed serial murder cases alongside unresolved and suspected patterns needing further investigation. Merryweather emphasises the difficulty of gauging the true scale of serial murder in the UK due to varying definitions and the complexity of unsolved cases.
